Hip-Hop Class

nayiaA brand new class available now on Gym-Azing with Nayia Georgopoulos:

Before she can even walk Nayia was already a dancer. At the age of two she started her training in ballet, tap, jazz, modern and Greek folk dancing at Helen Skarla Dance School. Being a native New Yorker, by the age of 10 she was influenced by hip-hop dance choreography. She attended hip-hop dance classes at Broadway Dance Center for several years before teaching classes of her own.

While in high school she continued to study dance and was a part of American Ballet Theater's "Make A Ballet Program" under Richard Toda. Through this experience Nayia performed at New York's very own Lincoln Center. Also during high school she choreographed and participated in hip-hop dance competitions.

Later on, as an Architecture student at New York Institute of Technology, Nayia balanced her studies by continuing to teach dance and began NYIT's first Dance Club. At the time she also worked with a handful of up and coming artists, impressing her audiences with her unique style accenting music in various ways.

Even after becoming an assistant Architect, Nayia found time to return to the school that introduced her to the world of dance. She has been working for Helen Skarla for 10 years and finds nothing more rewarding than to pass along her love and knowledge for dance to her students.

Her students have been awarded Platinum and 1st. Place in competitions such as All American Talent, Nexstar National Talent Competition and Metro Talent Competition.
